Sunday

At Aialik Glacier on a boat tour of the Kenai Fjords.

Took Little Sister to the airport last night after tattooing appointments. Just got some lettering on an older piece to check out local skill before committing to anything bigger. On the way to Anchorage we stopped for a hike to see Byron glacier, this one you can supposedly walk up to and on if you aren't scared of falling in a crack and living with a fossilized woolly mammoth for the next 500 years. It was raining when we got there but we decided to go anyhow. Didn't make it the whole way because we had no rain gear and were pretty soaked and had also run out of Spanish to practice to warn the bears of our presence. But, we got fairly close and now I know where to go one of these weekends. We also went to the Moose's Tooth brewery to continue our brewery tour of the North. We've been to Yukon Brewery, Homer Brewery, St. Elias and the Moose's Tooth so far.

Dropped Sister off at 12, didn't get home 'til 3:30. That's a.m. folks and that is a drive that I officially HATE. First, imagine pitch black roads. Pitch black. No lights, no reflectors and barely visible road lines. Then add rain and fog. Then add twists and turns with a drop into a bay on one side and rocky cliff on the other. Then add the threat of a moose trying to kill you by darting into the road (189 killed this winter by cars). Then add A-holes who forget to turn off their brights or ride your tail because there's no where to turn out. THEN, just for fun, go ahead and add some hitchhikers to the side of the road, dressed in black of course. What in the hell? Where's Trooper Tennis when you need him? Of course I over exaggerate, that last hitchhiker in the drug rug and flip flops was in light colors. Very helpful to be visible when you're drunkenly stumbling into cars on a two lane highway. Scared the bejesus out of me, I tell you. I'll be looking into airport shuttles for my trip home in October.

Happy Birthday to Brother and old Aunt T.
