Winters here are beautiful and quiet but also long, dark and isolating. Makes one a bit restless. About 2 weeks ago I was agitated and ready to jump ship. But, the sun is back and with it, happier moods. I have plans to travel to Fairbanks and Juneau for Spring Break.With travel plans and scenes like this, my restless soul is content again.

I love the texture of the ground in these pictures. What is it? Frozen sand? Snow? It's so pretty.
It's just ice but as the tides come and go it changes the shape and also brings in sand and bigger ice chunks. Some have been as tall as me. Makes me wonder if there's ever an animal frozen inside.
